Yesterday Jeff and I took Sawyer to the park to swing and slide for the first time. He seemed to love it! He is becoming more and more like a little boy than a baby everyday. Lately he has figured out how to make "mad" faces - which are hilarious! He makes them when he is not getting his way of course, but he doesn't actually cry. Maybe someday I will have a camera in my hand when he does it! They crack me up :) Another thing I love is that he loves to be covered up in blankets. He gets so excited when we wrap him up in fuzzy blankets to go on walks or cover him in his carseat. He rubs the soft blankets with his little fingers, which totally reminds me of myself! I love having all kinds of super soft blankets on my bed to wrap up in.
Christmas is quickly approaching and I must say I really haven't had time to enjoy it. Time has just crept up on me out of nowhere. Hopefully after work finishes Thursday we can go do a few things as a little family like looking at lights. Holidays definitely have new meaning now that we have Sawyer to share them with!! :)

Halloween and Crawling!
I had a hard time figuring out what I wanted Sawyer to be for his first Halloween! I didn't want to go overboard, yet I wanted to do something to mark the occassion. A few weeks before the anticipated event, Jeff and I were watching Jake and the Neverland pirates with our little man- he loves the theme song :) Just like that it hit me - Sawyer totally reminds me of Jake's friend, Cubby! SO, he ended up being Cubby the Pirate. It was awesome. Lynette bought him the Cubby doll from the Disney store and Scully the parot too. Grandma Karen made his vest and bandana. Overall I think it turned out super cute and was pretty easy to put together for me! I am definately lacking in the creative/sewing talents! We all headed out to Shannan and Joe's for dinner and trick-or-treating. Reagan loved pushing Sawyer around in the stroller and it was fun to be in a neighborhood that had a ton of kids out. Plus, we love any excuse to hang out with Shannan- she is a hoot!
The other big event lately is that Sawyer has figured out how to actually crawl! He started out only being able to push up on his hands and toes; he looked like an upside down V-it was pretty cute! He loves getting around on his own now and I have accepted that I can no longer leave ANYTHING on the floor or within his reach on low shelves :) He loves to get into stuff as do most babies! It continues to amaze me at how quickly time is rushing by and how much he is growing and learning each day. Love him! xoxo

6 months old!
Our little man was 6 months old on September 27th! Jeff and I had alot of fun taking him to the park and making him sit through a ton of photos; it was the first time he had been on the grass without a blanket and he loved it! He kept trying to pick blades of grass - it was adorable. Here are some fun stats and things he has been doing lately:
*last time we weighed him he was 20 pounds, 12 ounces and 28 1/4 inches long
*he is starting to get a little bit more hair, still looks kinda red!
*he is great at sitting up and is working on crawling- he likes to rock back and forth on his
hands and knees
*he absolutely loves going for walks in the stroller; we get out a couple times a day at least-
especially when he is cranky because it totally calms him down
*he loves to eat food and tries so hard to grab at whatever anyone else is eating - Grammy
even lets him drink out of her cup(he thinks it is hilarious!)
*he still loves bath time
*this boy definitely likes to be out and about - whether it is the store, the park, the beach or just
in the front yard
*he still is not too fond of the carseat
*he has become quite the busy body and does NOT like to stay still or cuddle
*he has gotten alot better at sleeping- last nite he slept from 9pm - 6am! (we hope it continues!)
*he still has the most endearing and captivating smile and laugh
Other than loving being parents, life chugs along. I had to go back to work but not for too many hours a day and Sawyer gets to stay with Jeff. Although it has been kind of tough to leave him, I love the time Jeff has gotten to spend one on one with him. It truly has been a blessing watching the two of them grow together and play. I am so blessed and so grateful for such an awesome husband who is the best father I could have picked for my kids. Sawyer is a lucky guy :) - and so am I!!!

This and that...
The last few weeks have been flying by - as do all the others! Jon and Aubs left and it has taken some time to get used to the quiet at Grammy and Bumpa's! We have been hanging out with them lots and having fun as always! Jeff had a birthday and we kept it pretty low key. We usually try to do something for the two of us between our birthdays since they are pretty close together. We love him to pieces and hope he had a very happy birthday!
Our little man officially sat up for the first time all by himself on Friday, Sept. 21st. It is pretty crazy; Thursday he couldn't do it, Friday I get a picture from Jeff that has him sitting up all by himself! He is getting big soooo fast and I actually kinda hate it! But I am excited to see him reach all of these milestones too so I am finding myself trying to keep an emotional balance. :) Being a mom is the greatest thing ever! And now a bunch of pictures cuz that is what everybody likes best!

Hangin out
The last few weeks have been spent hanging out with Jon, Aubs, and the girls since they are moving this week. We are going to miss them sooooo much! Sawyer loves Hali'a. He smiles anytime she is around. La'a loves him to death too! I love watching the three of them interact.
Our little man also turned 5 months old. He loves eating "people food" and is very anxious for more. He stares at me and Jeff whenever we eat and moves his mouth like us. It is pretty funny. He likes playing on the floor a bit more and doesn't need to be held quite as much. He rolls everywhere and I am sure it won't be long til he is crawling - it seems like he is definitely trying! His laughter is infectious and I can't help but giggle right along with him. I realized that right now is truly a special and wonderful phase in our parenting journey. There is such an innocence on both sides. There is never a time when we get upset with him or have to be the "bad guys" and discipline him. He loves us with such a pure heart and doesn't hate us or think we have ruined his life- haha! Too soon the time-outs and NO's will be uttered(on both sides). The temper tantrums in the store and taking him out of sacrament meeting screaming at the top of his lungs will be here before we know it. So for now, we relish in his sweet smile, adorable laughter, and the pure joy being a little family brings.
We love the daddy

The fair, a cold and some shots, plus real food...sorta!
We started out the last few weeks with a trip to the Orange County Fair. We had a great time eating junk food, looking at some baby animals, listening to some music, and walking the fabulous Hall of Products(my favorite part:). The very next day however, our little man got his first cold. Lots of congestion, a fever, runny nose - the works. Poor guy! It stinks that at this age there really isn't much you can do except a humidifier and Tylenol. But even though he felt crummy, he was pretty much his happy self.
About a week after his cold, we went in to get his shots on Aug. 15th. I am happy to report that he is a very healthy baby. He weighed in at 18 pounds, 12.5 ounces and was 26.5 inches long. He was great throughout the whole visit and did not cry once during his shots! I was such a happy mama! The doc also gave us the green light and told us to start feeding him "real food" as in single grain cereals and green veggies. Can't believe it is already time for food! So far he seems to love eating with a spoon and has been awesome. It is fun to watch him pass all of these milestones. Even though he still NEVER sleeps, he is such a happy baby. Jeff and I feel sooo blessed to be his Dad and Mom!

Love his face in this pic!
La'a loved Uncle Jeff's snow cone :)
Being sick for the first time :(
He really wanted to hold the spoon himself
My happy guy!
